In this assignment, you will use the HWAS data set for some problems and a data set from Appendix B. Some exercises will focus on applying the concepts of confidence intervals, margin of error, and sample size. Other exercises will require hypotheses and a statistical test to yield probabilities to make the conclusion.

You will test single samples against a proposed mean or proportion of the Population. The confidence intervals will be done to establish a range in which one might expect the true mean or proportion of a population to fall. The interval size will be dependent on the level of confidence you expect, and the size of the sample under consideration. In the textbook readings, pay close attention to the wording for interpretation of confidence intervals (pg.344), as this is a commonly misunderstood concept.

**For proportions**, the formula for calculating the "variation" or error term is unlike that for mean, and Excel functions like **ZTEST and CONFIDENCE can NOT be used**, because they both require the standard deviation as input, which does not make sense for proportions.
