# Project #6370 - statistcis

The personnel director of a large corporation wants to study absenteeism among

clerical workers at the corporation’s central office during the year. A random

sample of 25 clerical workers reveals the following:

Ø  Absenteeism: = 9.7 days, S = 4.0 days.

12 clerical workers were absent more than 10 days.

1. Set up a 95% confidence interval estimate of the population proportion of clerical workers absent more than 10 days last year.

A manufacturer of power tools claims that the average amount of time required to

assemble their top-of-the-line table saw is 90 minutes with a standard deviation of 40

minutes.  Suppose a random sample of 64 purchasers of this table saw is taken. Find the

probability that the sample mean will be greater than 98 minutes?

b) Given that X is a normally distributed random variable with a mean of 60 and a

standard deviation of 4, find the probability that X is between 57 and 64.
