# Project #32825 - Math HW

This assignment has 7 questions that entail probability, odds, and  tree diagrams. The work must be shown step by step, along with the correct answer. If you have a fax machine, please send me your number so that I can fax over the assignment. Otherwise you can view it below and email me the answers. I need this assignment completed within 1 hour.

1) Find the probability: An IRS auditor randomly selects 13 tax returns(without replacement) from 60 returns of which contain errors. What is the probability that she selects more none of those containing errors?

Solve the Problem:

2) An insurance company will insure a \$240,000 home for its total value for annual premium of \$570. If the company spends \$30 per year to service such a policy, the probability of total loss for such home in a given year is 0.001 and you assume either total loss or no loss will occur, what is the company's expected annual gain(or profit) on each such policy?

3) A student is taking a standardized test consisting of multiple choice questions for which there are five options for each question. Nine points are awarded for each correct answer, but the student loses 2 points for an incorrect answer. Questions left blank neither recieve nor lose points. What is the minimum number of options that the student should be able to rule out before making a guess on any particular question?

4) There are 3 cards in a hat; one is a queen, and one is an ace, Two cards are to be selected at random with replacement. Using a tree diagram, obtain the sample space for the experiment. List the elements that make up the sample space.

5) A survey of senior citizens at a doctor's office shows that 47% take blood pressure-lowering medications, 45% take cholesterol-lowering medication, and 8% take both medications. What is the probability that a senior citizen takes either blood pressure-lowering or cholesteroling medication? Round to the nearest hundredth.

6) A couple plans to have four children. Using a tree diagram, obtain the sample space. Then, find the probability that the family has three boys first and then one girl.

7) The following table contains data from a study of two airlines which fly to Smal Town, USA.

• Podunks Airlines have 33 number of flights arrived on time
• 6 number of flights arrived late

• Upstate Arileines have 43 number of flights arrived on time
• 5 number of flights arrived late

If a flight is selected at random, find the probability that the flight will arrive on time and that they fly with Upstate airlines.
