- Please provide your thoughts on the following issue. In light of the widespread push to adopt the use of SSL/TLS for all web interactions consider the solutions that support network traffic inspection by controls like firewalls and intrustion detection systems. This capability is sometimes referred to as SSL inspect or something similar. These types of solutions can be deployed in front of the web servers or clients or both. Are the implications different depending on whether it is near the servers or clients? Consider that some solutions can break some of the trust model for validating SSL/TLS certificates particularly the extended validation. This can lead to users needing to respond to a query about whether they want to trust a currently untrusted certificate.
