â– THE BACKGROUND: You are the PR Director for WIT’s Public Relations Department. You have been assigned to provide an “upbeat/positive summer semester 2016 WIT/campus/community related” feature photo essay for the upcoming July edition of GraduWIT Magazine - the alumni publication published each semester. The topic – and your photo essay - must pertain to the activities/events/ etc. of the spring 2016 semester at the Institute. NOTE: All photos, as well as all of the information you include, must be factual and accurate. You are required to shoot your own pictures. â– YOUR ASSIGNMENT: 1. Shoot and submit a photo essay of 4-6 photos 2. 1 headline (Pertaining to your entire photo essay) 3. Caption(s) for at least three photos. IMPORTANT: Your work must relate to an aspect of the spring 2016 semester at Wentworth, must be of a positive tone and must be appropriate for the WIT alumni publication. â– SUBMIT: On one-two sheets of paper, your: a. Photo essay of 4-6 photos (Large enough to be viewed)… b. …one deck headline (Minimum of 30 maximum of 38 character spaces… c. … (YOU MUST INDICATE YOUR SPACE COUNT) d. … captions placed under the photos (minimum of 3 captions) for the photos… e. Your name, section and date â– IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS: A.YOUR PR PHOTOS: - Should adhere to the “spring 2016 semester at Wentworth” theme - May be color or black & white - Do not have to be an “action” shot - May be posed and set-up, enhanced - but not altered - Must be large enough for viewing – by me - when printed on your paper - Must be of a positive tone and appropriate for GraduWIT magazine. - Should have the outcome determined before you shoot/set up the shot - May be portrait, landscape, a combination B. YOUR CAPTION(S) (For a minimum of three photos) - Should help tell/report your story/them. - Must be appropriate and applicable to your theme - At minimum, the readers should be able to: Find the 5Ws and H – but you do not have to include all of them in just one caption. But don’t just write a lead. The words that you choose must work in conjunction with the photos, so that each photo and accompanying caption tie-in and help tell your story. It is important that you maintain the visual (photo) and verbal (captions) relationship. This is a positive toned, PR piece. You must maintain the unifying theme or subject. Keep in mind that some of your readers – who may have graduated years earlier - may not be familiar with some of the places, locations, (of WIT) noted in your photos. Will they know that they are seeing Sweeney Field, the Fitness Center, etc? C.) YOUR ONE HEADLINE: 1. Must be a one-line, 30 minimum, 38 maximum spaces 2. You MUST include your total space count. D.) IT MUST BE A POSITIVE PR FEATURE - Keep in mind that the tone of your headline and cut lines should correspond with that of your photos - Adhere to the rules of good headlines, captions and PR photos
